MR-8™ is a standard high-index lens material. Compared to other materials with the same refractive index, MR-8™ stands out for its high Abbe value, minimizing chromatic aberration in peripheral vision. It also offers a balanced combination of impact resistance and heat resistance. MR-8™ features a refractive index of 1.60, an Abbe value of 41, and a heat distortion temperature of 118°C.

As shown in the drop-ball test scenario above, lenses made from MR-8 plus™ material passed the test without any primer coating under the same conditions. In contrast, standard 1.60 lenses without primer coating cracked when struck by the ball.
